 Memorial Scholarship

Matt's Story

Matt Alexander was a 2007 graduate of Avon High School who tragically lost his life in the FedEx mass shooting on April 15, 2021. Matt personified “Live a Good Story” in all he did throughout his life. He was involved in sports of all kinds, but baseball was his true passion. Matt started playing baseball at the age of five at Avon Junior Athletic Association and continued playing through high school. He excelled in academics and was a leader both on and off the field. Matt wore #16 throughout his high school baseball career. Therefore, his family finds it fitting to award a $1,600 scholarship in his memory to an Avon High School Baseball player who plans to continue his education after graduation.

The scholarship recipient must exemplify the following qualities both on and off the playing field: Unselfishness, Positive Attitude, Good Character, Mental Toughness, Coachability, Strong Work Ethic, Leadership, and be a Good Teammate.
